I am interested in film as a tool for the extraction of certain forms of order from the chaotic matter of life. In the lives of the protagonists of my films I search for what may be of a universal nature. For me, people are carriers of ideas which manifest themselves in what they do and say, the way they live, who they are. A specific example of human existence presented in a film can stimulate a broader reflection of a philosophical, social, and psychological nature. For me, an experiment is a way of searching for new words and I try to enrich the language of my films with them. I attach high importance to photography as a dramaturgic means and a carrier of meaning which is impossible to articulate verbally.

The degree piece is in the form of a video in the genre defined as auteur film.
In fact, Kacper Nurzyński is the author of projects in photography, musical settings and editing, but first and foremost, much of his work involves combining two parallel narratives.
The film’s protagonist speaks about her life and a number of paranormal phenomena which she has experienced. Kacper Nurzyński does not question the truth
of her words, leaving any such assessment to the audience.
The young artist accompanies the verbal tale with film images which complement the woman’s words. In a very tactful way Nurzyński seeks to create the aura of extraordinary or paranormal happenings and the power of fate, in which Ms. Alicja Rosołowska believes.
It should be highlighted that he has managed to achieve the atmosphere of doom enshrouding the protagonist with shots taken from everyday reality.
The fusion of autobiographical confessions and images of a street or cemetery gains a symbolic meaning. After the merger of two different narratives it becomes a philosophical parable on the search for the meaning of existence. From the struggle for physical survival, to finding one’s own place in the cosmos.
As the degree piece’s supervisor I find myself giving in to the expressive power
of this short piece. Although I myself am sceptical about the accumulation of miraculous healings of the protagonist, I recognise the right of each of us to interpret events, and to do so metaphysically as well. This is undeniably due to Kacper Nurzyński’s video.
The degree piece would have never been possible if it was not for the evocative participation of the narrator and Kacper Nurzyński’s ability to convince her to reveal so much about herself in front of the camera. A fully independent, mature and perfectly executed piece.
